Scotty and I were enjoying a wonderful Sunday lunch at the Chinese buffet. Sharing thoughts about the morning services at lunchtime after church always makes for rich fellowship. What I have learned from the teachings sinks deeper into my heart when I hear his thoughts and reflections. Our hearts are knit in a tighter weave in these moments.
Scotty took the ticket to the counter to pay.
The cashier shook her head with beaming face ... "No need," she says. "Your lunch has been paid for."
He adjusted his wallet, because he always does, then slowly, thoughtfully slid it back into his front pocket.
The mystery giver had already left adding wonder to wonder. We marveled at their kindness.
We prayed blessings on the giver. We have learned from their kindness. Lessons have been taught us this day ... lessons from the pulpit, lessons by demonstration.
We ask the Lord for opportunity to share in the unexpected, gifts given anonymously. We ask Him for a "just because" moment.
We desire a chance to give not only when it is Christmas or a birthday or there is a new baby in the nest ... only because we want to pass on a blessing.
He will be faithful to show us.
"Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share ... " 1 Timothy 6:18 NASV

i love it when things like this happen! i am always surprised by the things the LORD does for us... i feel so unworthy of HIS goodness. i have been looking more and more into the gifts of the little as well as the big, and love seeing HIM in all of it!
