Been There
There is nothing quite like finding a friend who has encountered and survived your present struggle. She has already endured the fire, mastered her footing along the way and knows ... really knows what you are saying.
Struggles, trials, triggers, temptations, testings, questions, fears, and testimonies are openly laid bare without fear of judgement or misunderstanding because you have been on the same road. You just know it is safe.
It is good fellowship.
It is liberating to be real, to get heaviness off of your chest ... freeing your heart and mind so you can think again.
These kind of friends are God-given.
The prayers shared between such friends are powerful. They pray for you with a depth of heart because they know the hurt and they feel it for you.
That is the kind of friends that help get us through the difficult times of this life. We need them.
If we cannot find such a friend, there is always one who will be like that. Jesus. He knows like that. He feels like that. He understands like that. He also sends us friends like that ... so we can see a face, receive a hug, and be assured that He is really there all the way through.
"For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 4:15-16
