The Builder
I saw them tearing a building down
A group of men in a busy town.
With hefty blow and a lusty yell,
They swung with zest and a whole wall fell.
Asked of the foreman,
" Are those men skilled?
The kind you would hire here
If you had to build?"
He looked at me and laughed.
"No, indeed! Unskilled laborers is all I need!
Why they can wreck in a day or two
what has taken builders years to do."
I asked myself as I went away,
Which of these roles I have tried to play.
Am I a builder with rule and square,
measuring and constructing with skill and care?
Or am I the wrecker who walks through town,
content with the business of tearing down?

I am pondering these thoughts now too, Cheri.I want to be a builder! How are you, dear friend? I was thinking just the other day about the prayer you shared with me at Shespeaks and how special it was. That is a precious memory to me. I will never forget your kindness that day.
