Seasons

Today

the flowers are blooming

tomorrow

they will fade

Seasons

with fruit on the vine

pass so quickly

Timed by the Master.

The season for pruning

must come

when the season of blooming

has ended

when fruit has been enjoyed

and the stems begin to die

the Master

prunes, preparing the vine

for the next season

for blooming ...

  1. Thanks for this Cheri! This really hits home with me right now...I've been "mourning" the loss of some of my friendships as our family grows and we chose the "odd" path of homeschooling. It seems our choices are isolating me more and more. It's hard to accept that some friendships are changing because of the paths we're on...although i know they're not gone, they're just changing.

Anyways, my sweet friend Elise recently told me "sometimes God just gives us some friends for a season, but even when those seasons change, he'll bring new friends in, if He knows that's what you need."

So it's just like your post here...there is pruning, but new life will spring up with new fruit and new beauty!

    GREAT post!

  2. What beautiful irises, Cheri! A personal favorite of mine. I love your words too. Something I needed to hear today. Seasons...yes. Passing through some.

  3. The season of fruit bearing for a dear friend ended early this morning. She is 'blooming' in heaven now...but I feel the loss of the fragrance of her friendship.

Death has walked into my day, my heart feeling the cut of the pruning...

    Some seasons are hard,
    Joy
