Contending

Can you say that you ever contended for someone? We have all contended with someone but for someone?

Paul wrote: " I want you to know how hard I am contending for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally. My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ . . .  Colossians 2:1-2

It is alright to contend. It is good to contend for someone . . . not always with someone.

Contending is to be tenacious in prayer. It is to hold on, with all that you have for what you believe in and hope to see,  like a bulldog bites the leg of an intruder. It is giving of oneself in the midnight hour. It is believing when you cannot see anything. It is holding on to the One who can rescue, save, and bring deliverance to those you love.

This verse has inspired me to increase my sphere of those who I contend for. I have been humbled by Paul's words. I need more of the Spirit to love more, to contend for, to believe the unbelievable. Help me, Holy Spirit!!!

Have you ever read about the contentious woman in Proverbs? Solomon says it is better for a man to live on the corner of the roof  than live with someone like that. What if she had taken her contentions to the Lord? What if she fought the battle but on the proper turf? You know, if we would do this, I believe there would be more victories and much happier lives. Most of all, more people would be "encouraged in heart and united in love" and have "the riches of complete understanding" and "know the mystery of God, namely, Christ . . ."

That is awesome!

I have my armor on and I am all set to do some contending! Are you?

  1. Hello, my friend! Thinking of you today. This is my memory verse for the week! Imagine that. I am missing you, Cheri! I will not be going to SheSpeaks this year, and I so hoped to be able to. I just know we will meet again, though. Patience. I'm contending for that :).

Happy Easter, beloved! Love to you.
